It was magical and her body shimmered
When I touched it for the very first time
Like rippling through the stillness of water
I felt her wonder bewitch me

That night we stayed up in bed
Talking until dawn’s light fell across her face
In that moment I knew love
My past faded into oblivion

But pink glowing cheeks and her arms so cold
Lay wrapped around my chest today
I watch her as I see the life draining out slowly
It isn’t fair.

Tonight we’ll stay up late again
She’s an angel on earth, you see
And my little special piece of heaven is right here
But everything else is just evanescence.
